Cyberattacks continue to focus on cyber-physical systems (CPS) as they impact the physical world and ultimately national security, economic stability and public safety. Claroty wanted to hear from cybersecurity executives about their experiences in combating cyberattacks on CPS, particularly in terms of the financial impact and disruption to business operations as a result of incidents.
We surveyed 1,100 cybersecurity professionals around the world and a number of key trends emerged, which we will explore in this session:
- Losses from cyberattacks on CPS reach $1 million or more for more than 25% of respondents
- Ransomware continues to significantly disrupt healthcare, with recovery costs reaching half a million dollars or more in many cases
- Downtime is a worrying result of many attacks on CPS, with half of respondents reporting at least 12 hours of downtime and recovery taking a month or longer in 33% of cases
- Half of CPS resources are connected to the internet; whether this is done in a secure manner is another matter. We examine the trends in remote access for employees and third-party partners and suppliers
