DDoS attacks have been a constant, unpredictable and intangible threat since the 2000s. While the threat was rather abstract in the first ten years after the turn of the millennium and there were only a few providers of DDoS mitigation, today DDoS mitigation is a commodity with a multitude of providers. And since the name DDoS is the same as it was 20 years ago, it seems nothing has changed. But in reality it has changed. Here we describe how attacks have changed massively, partly due to the current geopolitical situation with state-sponsored attacks, but also due to DDoS attacks as a service.
In this presentation, we will show how attacks have changed over the last ten years and how you can still resist these threats.
