Cloud applications are characterized by distributed data storage and usually by data processing on the platform of a cloud provider.
The advantages in the cloud are bought by a certain loss of control, at least if no self-operated cloud is used.
The use of cloud services is restricted by the problem of U.S. laws, which have opposed European requirements and will probably become a problem again in the future.
